So, I've lately had various issues with my Vista machine. It has always given me problems when I try to do video driver updates, but it has recently developed a new annyoing behavior. Currently, whenever I connect to JPL via the Cisco-supplied VPN client, my entire screen goes blank. The machine isn't shutting down, it is just deciding not to provide any video signal. If I use a VNC client to connect to the Vista machine from one of the others, I can get it to reactivate the monitor by doing various things that shouldn't fix it such as opening up the display adapter properties menu. There is no legitimate reason why this should fix the issue; nevertheless, it seems to. Honestly, I think it is part of the continuing graphics card issues, but can offer no rationale as to why these two completely unrelated things interact in such a way.
